Growing Beyond the Cup

For us, coffee is not just about what is served in a cup. There is a long journey behind it — and a greater potential within every individual involved.

Through Cinta dari Hulu ke Hilir, we created a self-development project for the Deaf community, opening access to learning, growth, and opportunity.

Building from within

Building from Within

This project begins with a simple purpose: to equip and develop skills.

Participants were introduced to various trainings and workshops, ranging from entrepreneurship, public communication, photography, basic ethics, to intensive barista training.

It was not only for the internal team, but also open to the wider Deaf community, because access to learning should belong to everyone.

Understanding coffee from the source

Understanding Coffee from the Source

The journey did not stop in the classroom.

Participants were brought closer to the origin of coffee, learning the full process from planting and harvesting, to post-harvest work, roasting, and understanding coffee varieties.

Step by step, they saw how everything eventually comes together into a single cup of coffee.

From learning to mastering

From Learning to Mastering

After understanding the journey of coffee, participants continued into the next stage: the barista course.

They learned from the fundamentals — techniques, machine use, and more advanced processes such as calibration, cupping, menu development, and quality control.

More than training, this project created opportunities: a space to grow, build confidence, and carry meaningful skills into the future.

Growing Together

For us, this journey is not only about the participants. It is a shared journey.

Because when one person grows, the impact can reach many more. And from there, change begins — slowly, but meaningfully.
